Statement & Bio

Doug was born in 1945 in San Diego, CA and grew up in CA and the Midwest. He moved to New York in 1969 in order to work in the office of the mayor of New York. Fascinated by the multicultural street life of the city neighborhoods, he was drawn to photogrpahy as a way to capture his interest and had a brief introduction to photogrpahy at the New School in 1971.
Doug completed his graduate work at Harvard in 1973. He started his own consulting firm in1986 and has worked with corporations in over 25 countries. His work has taken him to virtually every country in Europe and Asia. His travels have provided the perfect opportunity to fulfill his passions to expereince the great peoples and cultures of the world while developing his photogrphic skill and artistic voice. He is currently working on a book that will showcase fifteen years of his photographs capturing the unique people, culture, colors and Buddhist traditions of Sri Lanka.
